Advanced dental care with precision, comfort, and faster healing
Quick answer
Laser dentistry uses a focused beam of light for many gum, soft-tissue and some cavity procedures, often with less bleeding and quicker healing than a scalpel. At Kapoor's Safe Hands Dental in Sushant Lok, Gurgaon, it's used alongside regular techniques, not as a replacement for all of them.
| Best for | Gum reshaping, tongue-tie release and soft-tissue procedures |
|---|---|
| Anaesthesia | Numbing gel or a small local injection |
| Healing | Often within a week or two |
| Not suited to | All drilling procedures or every medical condition |
Laser dentistry uses focused light energy instead of traditional drills or scalpels for many soft- and hard-tissue procedures. This allows for greater precision, reduced bleeding, and a notably more comfortable experience for many patients compared to conventional instruments.
A dental laser precisely targets the treatment area, sealing blood vessels and nerve endings as it works. This is why many laser procedures involve less bleeding, swelling, and post-treatment discomfort than traditional methods.
Reduced pain and bleeding during and after treatment
Faster healing time compared to traditional methods
Minimally invasive: often reduces or eliminates the need for stitches
Improved precision, protecting more of the healthy surrounding tissue
Lower risk of infection due to the sterilizing effect of the laser
Gum reshaping and treatment of gum disease
Cavity detection and minimally invasive decay removal
Frenectomy (tongue-tie/lip-tie correction)
Teeth whitening activation
Cosmetic gum contouring for a more even smile line
Laser dentistry is a good option for patients who are anxious about traditional dental tools, need precise soft-tissue work, or want faster recovery, though your dentist will confirm suitability based on your specific treatment needs.
Laser-assisted procedures are available from ₹9,800 onwards and are usually charged in addition to the base treatment cost.(e.g., gum treatment or cavity filling).
Reshaping excess gum tissue, for example when a smile shows too much gum
Helping in the treatment of gum disease alongside cleaning
Releasing a tight tongue-tie or lip-tie (frenectomy)
Removing small soft-tissue overgrowths
Preparing small areas of early decay in suitable cases
Activating whitening gel during in-clinic whitening
For many soft-tissue procedures, numbing gel is enough. For others we use a small local anaesthetic. You'll wear protective glasses, and the treatment itself is usually short. Afterwards the area can feel a little tender, like a small mouth ulcer, and it typically settles in a few days.
Laser doesn't replace every drill or blade. Larger cavities, cavities between teeth and the removal of old fillings or crowns still need conventional tools, and lasers aren't right for every medical condition. Your dentist will tell you honestly if laser is the right tool for your problem or if another approach would do a better job.
